The Alpenglow Bungalow is more than just a renovation project—it's a symphony of creativity, resilience, and shared dreams. Levi and I poured our hearts into this endeavor, nurturing the spirit of the mountains and the balance of color, light, and life.
Nestled at the base of the Big Cottonwood Canyon just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, this journey began in March 2022 when my partner, Levi, and I embarked on a transformative real estate adventure. This sad little fixer upper top unit of a duplex underwent a remarkable full-scale renovation that concluded in December 2022.
Levi and I took on the challenge with open hearts and eager hands, pouring our sweat and expertise into every corner of the house. A whopping 90% of the work was a labor of our own hands. Interior design, a new realm for me, was my canvas for envisioning a modern interpretation of the mountain aesthetic. Dubbed "The Alpenglow Bungalow," this house seamlessly marries contemporary charm with the rugged beauty of the outdoors. My focus was on light—capturing and harnessing the brilliant Alpenglow that paints the mountains during sunset. We made bold moves, removing walls and barriers to allow light to traverse freely, breathing life into every nook of the house.
The Alpenglow Bungalow now functions as our primary residence and as a successful mid-term rental during our travels. You will find visuals of the transformation below.

Main Living Area
The living room is the heart of this house with it’s tall windows with views of the mountains. My goal was to flood this room in light and create moments to get cozy especially in the cold of winter. The hanging chair and fireplace anchor this area.

Dining Room
This dining area may be the most grand place in the Alpenglow Bungalow. I chose this organic, large, yet light chandelier to showcase the height of the room and balance the space. The painting is an original piece by yours truly as well.

Kitchen
The kitchen got the biggest makeover by far. We opened up the wall to this galley kitchen and created a breakfast bar boasting more counter space, more light and more connection between the rooms. Exposed shelves and crisp finishes add to the feeling of lightness and connection.

What used to be an outdated kitchen office got a huge upgrade to a functional and chic wet bar. We added a sink and mini drink and wine fridge to this space to add more functionality to the kitchen area.

Master Bathroom
From closet shower and single vanity to massive walk in shower and double vanity. The intention with the master bath was sensual luxury. This spa-like experience is complete with a giant mural and black and gold accents throughout.
